(Basel, Switzerland) April 11, 2008 – Jewelers across the globe are talking about the many uses for Palladium, with industry leaders everywhere celebrating the beauty of this white, light, natural metal and its unprecedented resurgence in the midst of disrupted precious metal supplies. Palladium isn’t a new metal, it’s the Now Metal™, and the most recognized designers of fine jewelry, watches, rings and wedding rings agree. As Kathleen Breski, vice president of Trabert & Hoeffer Jewels, stated: “I’m in the moment, I say ‘let’s do it now,’ and let’s be the first on our block to buy Palladium.”

Palladium stole the show for 2,000 world-class exhibitors and 100,000 attendees at BaselWorld 2008 – the international luxury fair for the biggest names in jewelry, watches, rings and wedding rings held April 3-10 in Basel, Switzerland. Venerable brands such as Cartier, Ulysse Nardin, Chopard, Hublot, Parmigiani and more are already embracing the many uses for Palladium in exquisitely designed collections. Cartier sold every limited edition Pasha de Cartier 950 Palladium timepiece, and its successor, the Santos, sold out prior to release at the Fair. Parmigiani reports they are now using Palladium in thirty-two percent of the brand’s collection.

One after another, legendary designers spoke of the metal’s resurgence as a historic moment for the industry – a wave that will carry fine jewelry, watches, rings and wedding rings into the 21st century. The reintroduction of an elemental metal from the empirical chart is as rare as an eclipse, and a profound opportunity for an industry grappling with the price of precious metal supplies. Saul Goldberg, president of William Goldberg based in New York, Emanuelle Aliotti Visdomini, vice president of Vhernier, and Rolf Schnyder, president of Ulysse Nardin, are among those praising the uses for Palladium in fine jewelry, its precious and versatile qualities, and the possibilities it poses for fine jewelry.
